Things you don't like to see in your traffic stats

Is it wrong of me to be kind of creeped out that someone at the CIA visited my blog? I mean, I know my blog is full of awesomeness, but really...the CIA? LOL!

Get smart!

When I attended the American Association of Law Libraries annual meeting in July, I saw a great program by Julia Hughes, solo librarian at the Barley Snyder law firm in Lancaster, PA. It was a tips and tricks type program in which Julia shared websites, keyboard shortcuts, apps, and more to make your work easier and more productive. I was surprised at the number of tips I hadn't heard of before. And I definitely wasn't the only person interested in "working smarter;" it was a standing-room only crowd. Do yourself a favor and take a look at Julia's slides, bibliography, and other supporting docs at "Working Smart: Innovative Ways to Do More with Your Day."

Of conferences and such

This coming weekend I'll be heading off to the annual meeting of the American Association of Law Libraries in Washington, D.C. Even though I am now working in a medical library, I still value my law library colleagues and try to network with them whenever I can. I found some great networking tips from Jason Eiseman over at Jason the Content Librarian. Great ideas not only for conferences and meetings, but for use in your everyday life as well.

Ah-CHOO!

One of the great things about changing subject areas in librarianship is finding new learning tools. The Sneeze Game is a fun little video game that challenges you to infect as many humans as possible from your one sneeze. It's alarming to see how quickly a virus can be passed along, and at each level you get a little factoid about cold and flu viruses. It's a fun tool to help visually explain the spreading of disease. And the sound effects are terrific!

So I've got an iPhone

Not the NEW iPhone. No, my regular ol' cell phone's antenna was literally being held together with electrical tape. So I thought why not come into the new millennium and buy an iPhone as a replacement. I've had it for a month and a half now, and I'm enjoying both the fun and the silly as well as gadgets for work and productivity.

What's YOUR latest tech purchase?

Almost halfway there

By the end of this month, the year will be roughly half over. So how are you doing? What projects did you promise to get to this year? Are you making it? If not, what do you need to kick yourself in gear?

Personally, I haven't done so well myself. A few things accomplished, but others I'm still lacking motivation. What do you do to get yourself motivated?

I have been officially inducted as president of the Southwestern Association of Law Libraries. Mwahahahahahaha!
